Using Proactis from a Mac

The Proactis purchasing system only supports access via Internet Explorer.

In order to access Proactis from a Mac, IT Services recommend taking the following steps:

Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop client application

  • Users of UoB Macs can install the latest version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop client from Managed Software Center. For further information on this service, please see the Managed Software Center help pages.
  • Further information can be found at the Remote Desktop support pages.
  • Accessing Proactis

    You have 2 options for accessing Proactis:

    • Staff Remote Desktop
    • Proactis Terminal Service
    • Using Staff Remote Desktop

      Information on how to access the Staff Remote Desktop from a Mac can be found on the Staff Remote Desktop pages.

      To access Proactis via the Staff Remote Desktop:

      • Setup Staff Remote Desktop
      • Connect to Staff Remote Desktop
      • Open Internet Explorer and login to Proactis

      You may wish to setup Folder Redirection in order to share files between your local machine and the Staff Remote Desktop.

      Using the Proactis Terminal Service

      You have 2 options for accessing the Proactis Terminal Service:

      1. Use a preconfigured .rdp connection file:
      2. Set up the connection manually:
        • Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop application.
        • Click New.
        • Configure the connection details as follows:
          • Connection Name: Proactis
          • PC name: IS-ProactisTS.cse.bris.ac.uk
          • Gateway: No gateway configured
          • User name: UoB\yourUoBusername
          • Password: Leave this blank
          • Resolution: Configure to your preferences and/or requirements
          • Your configured window should look like:

        • You may wish to setup Folder Redirection in order to share files between your local machine and the Proactis Terminal Service.

          Setting up Folder Redirection in Microsoft Remote Desktop

          • If you have any active Microsoft Remote Desktop connections, disconnect before continuing.
          • Select the connection to Proactis, and press the Edit button.
          • Click on Redirection

          • Click on the + symbol
          • Enter a name for the folder you wish to redirect, e.g. Documents
          • Click on Browse...
          • Browse to the folder you wish to redirect, e.g. Documents, and press Choose
          • Press OK. The folder should appear in the list. You can add multiple folders if you wish.

          • Close the "Edit Remote Desktops" window and reconnect to Proactis
          • Your redirected folders will then be accessible via "Computer"
