The Centre receives two Bristol Teaching Awards

6 June 2017

We are proud to have received two Bristol Teaching Awards for the Innovation Programmes launched in 2016. Thank you to our students, teaching and support staff throughout the University; we could not have done it without you.

Each year the University of Bristol hosts the Bristol Teaching Awards to recognise outstanding contributions to learning and teaching throughout the University. The Centre for Innovation is proud to have received two awards.

Last night we celebrated inspirational teaching & learning at the Bristol Teaching Awards. Here's what happened #LoveBristolUni @Bristol_SU — Bristol University (@BristolUni) June 7, 2017

The University Educational Initiative Award recognises team contributions to initiatives that establish new, or improve existing, educational practice. A portion of the award nomination description reads, “The beginnings of the innovation programmes required significant tenacity on Ki and her colleagues’ part. The programmes are truly groundbreaking and an outstanding example of engaged teaching. The team fuse academic passion with a desire to innovate, creating an energetic learning environment.” It continues saying, “Working with external partners and problem solving are at the heart of [The Centre’s] programmes and challenge students in a novel way in order to produce the innovators of tomorrow. Students say that they are ‘blown away’ by the opportunities and challenges the programmes offer them.”

From among the 17 award winners, the Centre was also recognised with the highest honour award: The Vice-Chancellor's Award for Education. This award recognises exceptional contribution to education and enhancement of the student learning experience and is awarded based on the extent to which the contribution is valued by students and peers.

Thank you

The Centre for Innovation exists thanks to a large community of support; we could not have achieved this alone.

  • Thank you to our first cohort of students whose energy, curiosity and drive have made the Centre a hub of activity and learning.
  • Thank you to the Centre staff for your tenacity, passion and open approach to innovation that has allowed the Centre to embrace this new model for learning.
  • Thank you to our colleagues across the University who have offered fresh perspectives along with endless support and encouragement.
  • Thank you to our external partners who have given time, guidance and industry expertise to make learning exciting and help prepare the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.

Here's to looking ahead to year two!

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of the 2017 Bristol Teaching Awards. See the University of Bristol News for the full list of winners and nominees.
