New year, new name, new home
2 October 2017
The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship has moved into a new, purpose-built space in the Richmond Building at 105 Queens Road, Bristol.
Those of you who have met the staff and students at the Centre know we do not shy away from change, after all, it is a cornerstone of innovation. This summer, we made two notable changes.
First, we updated our name to the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. We will still use "The Centre" for short, but love the addition of the word Entrepreneurship to our full name. We feel it better reflect the Centre's work to empower people with skills and knowledge in both innovation and entrepreneurship to make significant positive change.
Second, we moved into a new, purpose-built space on the third floor of the Richmond Building which is also home to the University of Bristol's Student's Union. The space was co-designed by staff and students to create an environment that supports collaboration, innovation and creativity. Some of our favorite areas include the six colorful collaboration pods complete with sound insulation (top left); a prototyping room that is home to a laser cutter and 3D printers (top right); the nature-themed student hangout space (bottom left); and the undergraduate teaching space with its fold-out whiteboard walls and seven touch-screen monitors (bottom right).
We welcomed two new cohorts of students in late September and broke in the new teaching space with a Post-its® team challenge and welcome reception.
Here is to a great start and looking forward to another exciting year!
