Being a supporter of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) community doesn't require you to be an expert. However, whether it's doing research online or listening to other allies or LGBT+ people it involves asking, challenging and listening in order to widen knowledge. All staff are welcome to be an LGBT+ supporter.

We hope that this programme not only shows visible support for our LGBT+ students and staff, but also contributes towards improving inclusive practice in a range of areas such as in meetings, conversations with colleagues, business practices and/or teaching. 

The LGBT+ Supporters Pledge 

As a supporter you will sign a pledge which shows your commitment to being:

  • informed 

  • visible

  • challenging

  • an advocate

What else is involved?

The programme doesn't end there, you will be invited by the LGBT+ Staff & Student Networks to Bristol Pride in July and LGBT+ History Month events every February. Additonally, the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion team will contact you every 6 months to ask about the contributions that you have made in your work as a supporter.

  • How to be an LGBT+ Supporter –  EDI Team 
  • Sign up to the be an LGBT+ Supporter and collect resources 
  • Sign the pledge
