Bristol is an exciting city, a hub in south-west England, with easy access to the rest of the UK and Europe.
It is an independent, walkable, active, creative and green city, home to about 450,000 people from all over the world. With a heritage spanning over 1,000 years, modern-day Bristol combines historic tradition with innovative industry, a thriving arts and performance scene, and strengths in engineering and communications.
Whatever your discipline, Bristol offers experiential learning opportunities to encourage students to go beyond the classroom and connect with local industry and practitioners. Find out more about why Bristol was recently voted the top place to live in the UK (Sunday Times, 2017).
Bristol is also the perfect base from which to explore local areas of outstanding natural beauty, historic significance, and metropolises such as Cardiff and London.
Why the University of Bristol?
Located in the heart of the city, the University of Bristol has been a centre of inclusive, interdisciplinary and outstanding academic learning since 1876.
Our researchers tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our evolving world, contributing global insights through our faculties, schools, and research institutes.
Bristol is at the cutting-edge of a variety of disciplines and our campus reflets our dynamic mix of ancient pedigree and innovative thinking.
Combining brand new study and learning spaces with historic buildings, our leafy campus is a porous environment, very much a part of and reflective of its city locale.
Health services, student support services, on-site eateries, libraries and a newly refurbished sports centre provide all the facilities your students might need.
The Bristol experience
Our experienced team is on hand to assist with and coordinate the following elements to your specific needs:
Housing and meals
Two University residences offer flexible accommodation options.
Clifton Hill House is catered accommodation, which comprises halls of residence within a central building. Each hall includes shared washroom and kitchenette facilities.
Goldney Hall offers self-catered apartments (with catering options) ranging from five- to eight-person units, with en-suite or shared washroom facilities. Each apartment has its own kitchen and communal space.
Both are a 15-minute walk from campus and a 5-minute walk from the shops and restaurants of Clifton village.
The residences are secured with multiple passcode-entry points, 24/7 on-call staff, and offer on-site laundry facilities, free wi-fi throughout and social group spaces.
Cultural and social activities
The global summer schools team can provide guidance and suggestions about a range of intercultural activities to complement academic learning.
These might include street art sessions, river cruises, field trips within the south west, museum visits, or backstage tours.
In addition, we will provide risk assessments for all activities, as well as detailed policies relating to the health, safety and wellbeing of your students while with us.
In complement to our partners’ own support procedures, the University of Bristol actively supports students from before they leave for the UK.
We are happy to assist with or deliver pre-departure and programme orientations that introduce your students to life and study in the UK. We can also provide immigration advice and documentation as necessary.
Airport transfers can also be arranged on request, as can the additional support of student leaders and mentors if required.
