20 January 2020

A book co-written by Professor Sarah Street has won the Katherine Singer Kovacs Book Award, which is presented by the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.

Written alongside Joshua Yumibe, Associate Professor and Director of Film Studies at Michigan State University, Chromatic Modernity: Color, Cinema, and Media of the 1920s provides a revelatory history of how the use of color in film during the 1920s played a key role in creating a chromatically vibrant culture.

The award will be presented in Denver, Colorado in April.
