2 October 2014
At a major film festival in Italy this month, Professor Sarah Street and Dr Vicky Jackson will present results from their research into colour film in the 1920s silent period.
The research team has programmed two screening strands at the 33rd Pordenone Silent Film Festival (4 to 11 October 2014) to exhibit the diversity and beauty of colour in this era, unveiling to scholars and silent film enthusiasts an exciting range of newly preserved and previously unseen examples of advertisements, animation, experimental works and fiction films.
Their research examines colour’s prevalence and importance in 1920s filmmaking and to the wider cultural fascination with colour in the Jazz Age.
