GSoE representation at Language Assessment conference in May

Invited presentation and workshop plus Alumni Foundation Travel Award

The Graduate School of Education will be well represented at the upcoming Asian Association for Language Assessment (AALA) Conference through three conference contributions.

Dr Talia Isaacs, Senior Lecturer in Education, will be presenting an invited talk and invited workshop at the conference in Bangkok, Thailand this May. Talia's paper is titled, Perceptions and ratings of lay listeners, teachers, and examiners in L2 pronunciation scale development and validation.  Her invited pre-conference workshop is on the topic of Principles and practice in assessing speaking: Beyond reticence to target “ear and tongue skills”.
 
Joining Talia in Bangkok will be EdD researcher, Helen Tan, a TESOL Applied Linguistics EdD student who has received an Alumni Foundation Travel Award to support her paper presentation. Helen's paper, The effects of planning time on Taiwanese college students’ speaking performance and strategy use in a TOEFL integrated task, reports on her dissertation results.
