China Scholarship Council partnership
We play a key role in promoting the opportunities that are emerging from the University's productive partnership with the China Scholarship Council.
Applications for 2019/2020 will open on 3 October 2018 and close on 18 January 2019.
In late 2017, the University of Bristol announced that at least 20 four-year PhD research scholarships will be offered to candidates resident in the People’s Republic of China.
This significant announcement was the result of a joint initiative between the University and China’s pre-eminent scholarship-awarding body, the China Scholarship Council.
The initiative’s success is marked by its growth to a second round of 40 places offered for September 2018.
The Bristol Doctoral College plays a key role in coordinating and promoting these scholarship opportunities, both in China and within the University itself, as part of our work to grow Bristol’s international, postgraduate researcher community through innovative partnerships.
The University of Bristol provides full tuition fees for all scholarship places. The China Scholarship Council provides:
- a stipend (as specified by the Chinese Government)
- a return international airfare between China and the UK
- funding to cover passport and visa fees.
