SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS - 12 Car Rally



  1. Bristol University Motor Club will promote a 12 car navigational rally on Friday 29th October (& Friday 5th November) 1999.
  2. The meeting will be governed by the General Regulations of the RACMSA ltd. (including the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA), any subsequent requirements of the RACMSA, as well as these supplementary regualtions and any other written instructions the organising club may issue for the event.
  3. A permit has been issued.
  4. The even is open to all members of the promoting club. An RAC competition licence is NOT required.
  5. Signing on and scrutineering will take place between 18:30 and 19:00 hrs at the Queens Building, University Walk, Bristol, map reference 583 733.

  7. The route will cover approximately 40 miles on OS Map 172 (Bristol and Bath) latest edition.
  8. The crew must consist of driver and navigator only. Both crew members must sign the official signing on sheet. In the event of more than 12 cars signing up to compete, entrants will be chosen at the organiser's discretion.
  9. The event will consist of both Novice and Expert classes.
  10. Provisional results will be announced as soon as possible after the finish. Protests must be made within seven days following the publishing of the provisional results and must be accompanied by a fee of £5 which will be refunded if the protest is upheld.
  11. Timing will be by marshals' watches, using BBC timing, to the previous whole minute.
  12. No more than 4 forward facing beams may be used (not including side lights). Any competitors seen using more than 4 will be EXCLUDED
  13. All villages and built up areas must be treated as quiet zones. This means traversing in as high a gear as possible with dipped beams. Conduct liable to bring motorsport into disrepute will result in EXCLUSION.
  14. The organisers reserve the right to abandon, cancel, postpone or delete part of the event, should unforeseen circumstances make this necessary.
  15. Competitors must ensure that their vehicle is covered by insurance as required by the Road Traffic Act. We will be operating the Bowring/AGF scheme.
  16. Performance will be assessed by the fails system. Positions will be determined by the lowest number of fails and then the lowest number of marks gained. In the event of a tie, the competitor completing the greater portion of the course from the start without penalty will be the winner.
  17. The fails system will be:
    1. Not reporting to a Time Control = EXCLUSION
    2. Missing or incorrect Passage Control Board = 1 FAIL
    3. Wrong approach to Time Control = 1 FAIL
    4. Early arrival at a Time Control = 2 Marks / Min
    5. Late arrival at a Time Contol = 1 Mark / Min
    6. Every 10 mins late at a Time Control = 1 FAIL
  18. The organiser's decision is final
