Shows in 2002:

One World Day - 30th January 2002, Anson Rooms, 7:30p.m. - The One world show was for all societies that have a specific cultural or ethnic background. We went and performed a Roda in front of loads of people, which seemed to go down pretty well. Unfortunately we didn't win the huge prize of £75, I hear that it went to the Morris dancers or something (only joking). Quite a few of us took part in the end - Andre, Cheng, Rich, Charlie, Sapna, Susannah, Steve, Gayle, and a couple more newbies.

Martial Arts Show - 3rd February 2002, Anson Rooms, 12p.mSunday the 3rd of February saw the fourth annual University of Bristol Martial Arts demonstration attract over 250 spectators and participants, making it one of the biggest and most successful to date. The day started at 12.30 (slightly behind schedule) and after a brief welcome and introduction, Capoeira, quite literally, kicked off the action. They started things off with individual displays in time to music and the demonstrated exceptional flexibility and acrobatic skills. They then performed some non-contact sparring in pairs while the music and singing continued. The tempo was gradually increased until they were performing at full speed, displaying a vast array of flips, head stands and jumping, spinning kicks.  - (review from www.bristolau.co.uk )

Churchill Hall Valentines Ball - 16th February 2002, Churchill Hall, - I think this was our best performance yet to date. We did a 15 minute show, surrounded by all the guests eating their dinner, which went down really well. Afterwards, most of the group stayed and got lots of free food!!

Arts Festival? - 18th-24th February 2002 - Not Confirmed

Dance Society Show? - Late March - Not Confirmed

Goldney Hall Ball - 15th June 2002 - The Goldney Ball was one of our best shows to date. We had a paked out crowd of literally hundreds of people, and made a performance of Maculele, Angola, and Regional. It did get a bit scary with a couple of people crashing into a table full of drinks, making the ground quite slippy! Anyway the show went well, and everyone seemed to have a good time.

Previous Shows

Capoeira Vs Breakdancing Night @ Level, 10th December 2001 - This was a great show, just after Andre came back from Poland. 6 Capoeiristas (Andre, Cheng, Rich, Charlie, R2 and Mark) did a show with 7 or 8 of Bristol's finest breakers. We did individual shows of about 15 minutes and then took turns in the 'battle' at the end. It was quite strange for everyone doing Capoeira to Hip Hop, but turned out to be good fun, oh and we made about £400!!!!!!

Dance Society Show - March 2001 Click Here to see the photos. This was a good show on three consecutive days. Sylvain was present at the time, and taught us all the 'french flip'. We all got semi-naked on the last night, and did the last movements topless - but you should have seen the blast zone, as David Wood decided to chuck his soaking t-shirt into the crowd!!!

Martial Arts Show - February 2001 - This show went pretty well. As I remember, there was a pretty sizable audience, who all seemed really interested.
