Funding next steps
Find out what you need to do about funding now you have come through the Clearing and Adjustment process.
UK students
Do I need to let the Student Loans Company know I have a place on a different course to the one I originally planned?
If you have already applied for a tuition fee loan, you must provide the Student Loan Company (SLC) with details of the course you are now intending to study.
Failure to inform the SLC about changes to your original course may result in late payment of funds.
You can inform the SLC by logging into the website of your student funding provider and advising them of any changes to your student finance application.
If you are waiting for your loan application to be processed you should inform the relevant agency of any change of course, depending on where you normally live.
What bursaries and scholarships are available at Bristol?
We offer a range of funding for UK students. Some funding will be dependent upon your household income or personal circumstances. Other support may be dependent upon the subject you are studying, your academic ability or your extracurricular activities.
I haven't yet applied for government financial support; what should I do?
If you wish to apply for help with tuition fees or living costs, you should do so as soon as possible. If you haven't already applied, you have missed the deadline to guarantee receiving funds at the start of term, but a prompt application will reduce further delay. You can apply for financial support up to nine months after the start of your academic year.

Further information on government loans and grants for home students is available from the relevant agency, depending on where you normally live:
I am now studying on a longer course than I applied for; does this affect my funding?
If you are undertaking your first higher education qualification at university and during your studies you decide to upgrade (eg from BEng Mechanical Engineering to MEng Mechanical Engineering), you must notify the Student Loans Company so that they can reassess your financial support entitlement. You will be entitled to funding for the new duration of your course.
I have been accepted on a course funded through the NHS; what funding can I apply for?
Our fees and funding website includes information for students on NHS-funded courses.
