Resolving the Factors that Govern Aerosol Photochemistry

The goal of this project is to resolve how particle size, bulk viscosity, and surface composition impact photochemical rates in aerosol. This work involves experiments using an optical tweezers setup as well as using an aerosol photooxidation chamber. The results from this project will allow development of a predictive framework to describe the effects of photoinitiated chemistry on climate relevant aerosol properties like size and refractive index.
