Visit to Hanham Woods Academy

10 October 2017

On Tuesday 10th October the School of Biochemistry visited the Hanham Woods Academy Year 10 Triple Sciences class to deliver a workshop. Pupils learned about cells, DNA and genetic fingerprinting. They also extracted their DNA from their cheek cells and made this into a unique necklace.

Professor Kate Nobes, Head of Biochemistry at the University of Bristol, said "we are delighted to be forming a link with Hanham Woods Academy and we are looking forward to welcoming three Year 10 students next year for a week of work experience in our research labs".
