Skirting Science 2018

Skirting Science is an award-winning event, organised by the Soroptimist International's Weston branch, that aims to inspire the next generation of female scientists. It brings together Year 9 girls and science professionals from various research, industrial and educational establishments. The School of Biochemistry is proud to have a strong relationship with this event.

Each science professional delivers a workshop that provides a hands-on experience of their career. The workshop might involve an experiment, a design and build activity, group work; in fact anything provided the participants go away with a real, visceral insight into what it's like to be a scientist.

The girls come from lots of different schools and are chosen for their potential to progress to university and study a science subject; the really could be tomorrow's scientists. The 2018 event will be the tenth anniversary of Skirting Science and the organisers promise something special! For more information please contact Skirting Science.
