Nicholas Royle, Professor of English (University of Sussex), gives the English Department's research seminar on Hélène Cixous.

Professor Royle's research interests lie in Twentieth Century literature and culture, and creative and critical writing. His books of criticism include After Derrida (1995) and Veering: A Theory of Literature (2011). With Professor Andrew Bennett (University of Bristol), he is co-author of An Introduction to Literature, Criticism and Theory, 5th ed. (2016), This Thing Called Literature (2015) and Elizabeth Bowen and the Dissolution of the NovelStill Lives (1995). His creative work includes, An English Guide to Birdwatching: A Novel (2017( and Quilt: A Novel (2010).
