The University of Bristol welcomes Elizabeth Horan, of Arizona State University, to deliver the paper: 'Gabriela Mistral, Lesbian Biography and the Closet'.
Elizabeth Horan is a Professor in the Department of English at Arizona State, with a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Horan's primary research interests are US and Latin American Literatures, including biography, women and gender studies, and translation. She has developed and regularly teaches courses on Literature Nobel Laureates, Spy and Detective Fiction and Film, and in the intersections of Latin American and US Literature.
She is particularly well-known for her work on poet and Chilean Nobel Laureate, Gabriela Mistral. Her publications include Gabriela Mistral: An Artist and Her People (Organisation of American States, 1994), and with Doris Meyer, This America of Ours: The Letters of Gabriela Mistral and Victoria Ocampo (University of Texas Press, 2003).
