16 July 2018

Following an application to the German History Society, PhD student Will Hamilton has been awarded a small grant of just over £1000 pounds, enabling him to visit archives during June and July in Munich and Berlin. He will be conducting original research for his PhD thesis on the subject of German comics and the First World War (1914-1933). Research in Germany will involve looking at the correspondences of lesser-known German cartoonists to better understand the personalities behind the artwork and uncovering original comics that that are now only accessible in these archives.
