Support for Glasgow School of Art
27 May 2014
Glasgow School of Art thanks the AAH for support following the recent fire, which caused the loss of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh's library.
The Department was shocked to hear about the recent fire damage to Glasgow School of Art, and in particular the loss of the famous library, which was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Ken Neil, the School's Acting Head of Research, informs Professor Simon Shaw-Miller that: 'The Glasgow School of Art and the University of Glasgow have appreciated strong links with the Association of Art Historians and as we recover from the terrible fire that hit the Mackintosh Building on Friday 23rd May the good wishes from AAH members and Trustees have been very welcome. Retrieval work continues this week and into the next weeks and months. There is much to save and restore, but we have lost the famous Mackintosh library. The GSA has been overwhelmed by offers of support and we have created a giving page on the website'.
