National Museum Wales in Cardiff invites applicants to its scheme for volunteer tour guides. Selection and training would take place before Christmas, and volunteers would work on the museum's busy programme of permanent and temporary exhibitions during 2014.

The museum would pay travel costs, and there would be added benefits such as free entry to study days, talks and paying events at the museum - for example, a Constable study in May 2014, and conferences/research days related to the Richard Wilson bicentenary exhibition.

The scheme offers excellent experience of museum work, but places are limited so I would urge you to make an early application. Further details can be found at: http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/takepart/volunteering/current/?id=791
