The Perry Bequest Lecture 2011: Displaying Victorian Sculpture

This lecture will be held on Monday, 9 May 2011 from 4.10pm - 6.00 pm in Lecture Theatre 1, 43 Woodland Road. It will given by Jason Edwards, Reader in History of Art and Director of the Centre for Modern Studies at the University of York, and Michael Hatt, Professor of History of Art and Head of Department at the University of Warwick. They will discuss their collaborative research project, Displaying Victorian Sculpture, which seeks to return sculpture to centre stage in discussions of nineteenth-century British culture. The project, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), will culminate in a major international exhibition opening at the Yale Center for British Art in 2013.

The lecture, funded by a bequest from Miss M.P. Perry and by an anonymous donor, forms part of the British Art Research Cluster (BARC) in History of Art at the University of Bristol. It will be followed by a discussion session with Dr Edwards and Professor Hatt, and a drinks reception.
