Waterhouse Catalogue Wins HBA Book Prize

John William Waterhouse: The Modern Pre-Raphaelite, co-authored by Elizabeth Prettejohn, Peter Trippi, Robert Upstone, and Patty Wageman, has won the Historians of British Art Book Prize 2011 for best multiauthored book. The Historians of British Art is an affiliated society of the College Art Association in the USA.

The book is the catalogue to the exhibition on Waterhouse, held in 2008-10 at the Groninger Museum (Groningen, The Netherlands), The Royal Academy of Art (London), and The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition attracted 360,000 visitors at its three venues, and provided the first opportunity for international audiences to see a comprehensive selection of the works of this highly popular Victorian painter. Professor Prettejohn was co-curator of the exhibition and author of the catalogue essay 'Waterhouse's Imagination'.
