All stages of our meal provision in catered residences have been reviewed for 20/21 to ensure a safe environment for our students during their stay at the University of Bristol.
Service times are as follows:
Breakfast: Due to operating with a reduced team, breakfast during the week will be offered during the evening service, as an ambient choice.
Dinner: 5.30pm – 7pm
Breakfast service hours: 9am – 11.30am
Lunch service hours: 12pm – 1.30pm
All service is currently takeaway
These times are subject to change. Please see onsite notices and Star Rez notifications.
Process for non-isolating catered students
Food will be served to the students via a counter by a member of staff. A hand sanitising station will be located at the entrance and exit of the dining room. Queue management by means of signage and verbal instruction will ensure social distancing measures. Additionally, the number of people allowed in each servery at any one time will be limited to ensure 2-metre distancing can be observed.
Food will be served in disposable containers and a personal re-usable cutlery/mug pack will be provided, once issued, please remember to bring your cup and cutlery with you to every meal. We will gradually be progressing into using crockery and cutlery following the guidelines provided by Public Health England (PHE) to ensure that we comply with all aspects of food and student safety. Where 2m distancing is not possible (especially when sitting at tables), perspex screens and partitions will be used for your safety.
Additional cleaning routines will be in place and you will have access to sanitising stations to clean your place before you leave the dining hall. An optional takeaway offer will also be available for those students who feel more comfortable taking their food back to their accommodation.
To ensure that only people within the catered hall bubbles access the dining rooms, meal cards and guest meals will not be available to non-catered students for term one, possibly for the whole year.
We are keen to ensure your student experience is not affected and therefore we will ensure service is provided in line with the guidelines provided by PHE as they change throughout your stay with us.
Process for self-isolating catered students
All self-isolating catered students must notify us, via the accommodation portal, that they will need food to be delivered. Food will be delivered to either your flat kitchen or corridor (depending on how your residence is set up). Self-isolating catered students should see our self-isolating food delivery schedule for information on what food they will get and when it will be delivered.
Please email our catering department if there are any questions or queries.
If government guidance changes
These measures might change if government guidance or the UK alert levels change. We will let you know about any changes.
