REGIONAL (TRAINING) ADVISERS IN PAEDIATRIC NEUROLOGY

Training Advisers shall usually hold office for three years. They shall be selected by The BPNA Regional Training Adviser’s Committee but their appointment must be ratified by Council. An appointment shall be based on a Deanery save for where a Region has several Deaneries but few trainees. Training Advisers will in this role be responsible to the Chairman of the National Training Committee. The duties of the post shall be:-

1. To maintain a list of those in training in paediatric neurology in all posts.

2. To provide advice and support for paediatric neurologists in training in co-ordination with their tutor.       

3. To advise over training programmes, job descriptions (including consultant posts) including the neurology content of general paediatric posts. This shall involve working with the College Regional Paediatric Advisers, Postgraduate Deans and Trust Executive Directors as appropriate. 

4. To participate in the appointment of paediatric neurology trainees ( with appropriate liaison as above 3 ).  

5. To be a member of the Regional Training Committee.

6. To be involved in the recognition and inspection of training posts and people.

7. To liaise with national training advisers over problems and new developments.

8. To receive annually copies of appraisal documents of all training posts and programmes and to be involved in the assessment and appraisal of trainees in their penultimate year of training.
