Universities of Bristol and Ghana sign an MOU

UoB Ghana MOU signingThe University of Bristol and the University of Ghana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in recognition of their shared desire to promote academic cooperation and foster research connections. The signing took place on Wednesday 18 September, in Royal Fort House. The signatories were Professor Hugh Brady and Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Vice-Chancellors of the respective institutions. A delegation from the University of Ghana was in attendance, and was joined by staff from University of Bristol International Office and Research Enterprise Development.

The MOU commits the two institutions, already connected by common membership of the Worldwide Universities Network, to an ever-closer relationship over the next five years with particular regard to the following key areas:

  • exchange of teaching staff and researchers
  • joint development of research projects
  • joint organization of scientific and cultural events

Professor Oduro Owusu said "I was impressed with the performance and the achievements of the University of Bristol (UoB) particularly in the areas of teaching and learning, research, governance and interaction with industry. The MOU between our institutions is a good step for the future of our Universities and countries. The two instititions should continue to seek opportunities for further collaboration. The University of Ghana (UG) is keen to ensure that the partnership works, and is prepared and willing to deepen the relationship or partnership between the two Institutions".
