Wnt signalling controls the response to mechanical loading during zebrafish joint development

Research in Chrissy Hammond’s group has identified signalling pathways that regulate cell proliferation and migration in response to mechanical force in Zebrafish joints. Using genetic labelling techniques including photoconversion of the fluorescent protein Kaede and the Zebrabow transgenic line, the Hammond group tracked cell behaviours in moving joints. The resulting paper describes data acquired using the confocal capabilities of the Wolfson Bioimaging Facility’s multiphoton system and bespoke image processing and analysis techniques.
