The latest addition to the Wolfson Bioimaging Facility – confocal 11 - is a high specification Leica SP8 AOBS tandem scanner confocal installed this week in C35. This microscope has been purchased by the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences to ease pressure on other high-end confocals which are heavily in demand for live imaging of cells and organisms.
Confocal 11 is equipped with a high speed resonant scanner in addition to standard galvo scanner, two high sensitivity hybrid detectors plus one standard PMT, three lasers covering 458-633nm excitation, high quality oil and glycerine-immersion lenses, motorised stage and incubator. Further details of the system specifications are available elsewhere on the website.
