The 2009 Bristol Vision Institute Symposium

17 December 2009

Bristol Vision Institute (BVI) aims to progress and promote vision science in its broadest sense, from perception to application. The first BVI Symposium will bring together key, international speakers in three research areas: computational models of vision, engineering applications of vision and visual aesthetics. The sessions are planned to enable ample time for discussion around each themed topic.

Professor Ian Christie, Anniversary Professor of Film and Media History at Birkbeck College, University of London will give the keynote lecture "What do we see in films?".

The day will end with a symposium dinner in honour of Professor Richard Gregory, at the Wills Memorial Building, a famous Bristol landmark.

The BVI Symposium has been scheduled to directly preceed the AVA Christmas Meeting in Bristol on 18 December 2009.
