Histopathology:

  • Wax processing.

  • Sectioning.

  • Frozen sectioning (cryotomy).

  • Haematoxylin and eosin staining as standard.

  • Many other staining techniques for light microscopy.

  • Decalcification & other treatments for hard samples (bone/hoof/horn/teeth)

  • Pathological reporting.

  • Please send tissue samples to the address below.

Post Mortem:

  • Investigation of bodies/samples.

  • Disposal of carcases.

  • Incineration and return of ashes.

  • Pathological reporting.

  • The duty pathologist should be contacted in order to request a post mortem examination. Please note that for logistical reasons we cannot accept carcases for post mortem on Friday afternoons.

Veterinary Pathology provides Pathology services to Langford Veterinary Services (LVS).

Veterinary surgeons in general practice may submit biopsy samples directly to the address below. (Please contact the duty pathologist to request post mortem examinations.)

The services provided by the Veterinary Pathology Unit are available only to registered veterinary surgeons and not directly to animal owners. All communication related to cases will be with the referring veterinary surgeon and not the animal owner.
