All solutions are intended to be aqueous
(dissolved in distilled water) unless otherwise
stated in the method.
For example if
1% methylene blue is called for this means 1g of methylene blue dissolved in
100ml distilled water.
Dewaxing sections refers to the process
of removing all traces of wax from sections before staining.
The
phrase "Dehydrate, clear and mount" seen at the end of many of the methods
refers to the process of dehydrating sections with 100% alcohol, clearing
with Histo-Clear®
(or
xylene) and mounting with a glass coverslip
and D.P.X. mountant.
