Put the slides in a rack and immerse them in a staining trough filled with
wax solvent, Histo-Clear® or xylene.
Allow approximately 5-10 minutes for all the wax to dissolve. Check by
eye.
Lift the rack and drain off excess wax solvent.
Immerse the slides in 100% alcohol to remove the wax solvent. Dip the rack
in and out of the alcohol several times to allow the alcohol to rinse the
slides thoroughly.
Immerse the slides in a second trough of 100% alcohol.
Immerse the slides in a trough of 70% alcohol.
Immerse slides in running tap water to remove all traces of alcohol.
Continue with the next step of the method you are following.
Make sure that the solvents are changed regularly.
