Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience
The Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience is responsible for the continuing development and leadership of student engagement, inclusion and wellbeing within the University.
Role and responsibilities
The Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience:
- promotes a highly positive, inclusive, engaged and rounded experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students
- is responsible for delivering the University's Education and Student Experience Strategy (with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education)
- represents the student voice.
Professor Sarah Purdy became Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience in April 2019.
Professor Sarah Purdy's biography
Sarah Purdy graduated from St Bartholomew's Hospital and worked at Newcastle University as a Lecturer, then a Clinical Senior Lecturer, in Primary Health Care. She has an MD from the University of London and a Master's from Harvard School of Public Health. She was appointed Consultant Senior Lecturer at Bristol in 2006, Reader in 2011 and Professor in 2014. From 2015 to 2019 she was Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Head of Bristol Medical School. She was Deputy Director of NIHR CLAHRC West from its founding to 2015 and its Director from 2018 to 2019. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh. She works clinically as a general practitioner in Bristol.
