Faculty of Life Sciences project

Early in 2015, the University undertook a review of life sciences at Bristol, to explore how the University should best conduct research and education in this area. Further discussion then focused on whether to take the next step and create a Faculty of Life Sciences.

In the context of the new University Strategy, in July 2016 the University Planning and Resource Committee (UPARC) agreed that the time was now right to establish the new faculty.

The Faculty of Life Sciences will provide a platform for closer integration of our life sciences activities and improved visibility for our achievements.

The new Faculty

With effect from August 2018, the new Faculty will encompass the Schools of:

  • Biochemistry
  • Biological Sciences
  • Cellular and Molecular Medicine
  • Experimental Psychology
  • Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience
