This unit explores animation principles, character setup and visual effects production. Professional software is used as a framework to introduce fundamental concepts. The syllabus includes:

  • Conceptual Design - storyboarding, character development and motion planning
  • Animation - animation principles, keyframing, path and camera animation
  • SDK and expressions
  • Character setup - character controls, skeletons and kinematics, deformers and constraints;
  • Dynamics and Simulation - soft and rigid bodies, particle and field effects

Intended learning outcomes

Successful completion of this unit will enable you to:

  • Design and produce complex animated computer graphics
  • Experience professional content production software
  • Understand the fundamentals of 3D animation production.
