College Green was a tapestry of high visibility wear on Tuesday Morning as over 800 hungry cyclists and walkers from across the city took advantage of a free, organic breakfast. The breakfast aimed at promoting and fuelling sustainable transport ran for 2 hours and showed off the wonderful abundance of sustainable transport information and facilities that Bristol has to offer.
Stands from local charities Lifecycle UK and Sustrans were available with a full range of details and support services for cyclists. The City Council were on hand answering questions and providing support and advice on local routes and facilities.
“Hourbike”, the pay-as-you-go Cycle Network, were there displaying their new rental bicycles. This fantastic scheme is due to be launched by September across the city. For information on locations contact the Transport Plan team.
All this along with a free tune up for bicycles and a free blood pressure check for the public (hopefully taken before consuming the, albeit organic, bacon sandwich) meant the event was an all round success, even managing to win over the sunshine.
