Professor Gavin D'Costa's book Christianity and World Religions. Disputed Question in the Theology of Religions (Blackwell, Oxford, 2009) was written with a matching award from the AHRC during his study leave in 2007-08.
The book has been well received. Professor Cornille of Boston University writes: 'D'Costa continues to push and stretch established categories and traditional doctrines to provide highly original and deeply provocative thoughts on the relationship between Christianity and other religions and on the role of religion in the public square. His approach to the question of the salvation of non-Christians in terms of Christ's descent into hell will undoubtedly be the focus of heated discussion in the theology of religions for years to come.'
