With over 50 years of production history in our stackrooms, the Bristol Old Vic Archive is a visual treasure trove of memories, which track the theatrical activities of our local theatre in King Street. The Theatre Royal stage has launched the glittering careers of many actors and actresses, including Peter O’Toole, Stephanie Cole and Daniel Day Lewis, but it’s history is not just about those who worked on the stage. The personnel and their activites behind the scenes have all contributed to the longevity of the Bristol Old Vic and it’s special role within the city of Bristol. It is this special contribution that will be celebrated in our summer exhibition, with photographs of famous productions, actors, directors, and rare backstage images of people working behind the scenes.
