Job Vacancy: Digitisation Officer, Bristol Old Vic Heritage Project

28 February 2017

We are recruiting a Digitisation Officer to work on the Bristol Old Vic Heritage Project at the Theatre Collection. £20,046 - 22,496.

Following the award of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to Bristol Old Vic, the University of Bristol Theatre Collection, working in partnership with Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Archives, is recruiting for a Digitisation Officer. This is a full time, fixed term contract for 2 years.

The main purpose of this role is to digitise 10,000 photographs and documents from the Bristol Old Vic Archive and other related archives held in the Theatre Collection (TC), as part of the project, Protecting and Sharing the Heritage of Britain’s Oldest Theatre. The digitised items will be used at the Bristol Old Vic theatre as part of the onsite interpretation via exhibition, activities and other innovative projects, and will form a long-term educational resource available via the TC.

The successful candidate must have experience of digitising material including documents and photographs. Experience of Photoshop and an interest in digital imaging and theatre are desirable, as is experience of handling archival material.

For an informal discussion, please contact the Theatre Collection at theatre-collection@bristol.ac.uk or 0117 331 5086.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on 5 April 2017.
