Overview

Ella Burra was a female playwright at the beginning of the 20th century. Her plays included Betty, The Tenth Point and Audacity Ltd. She spent much of her life in the Bristol area.

What the collection holds

Ella Burra's archive includes correspondence and photographs, with letters from Lilian Braithwaite, W Graham Browne, Amy Coleridge, Madge Kendal, Athene Seyler, Madge Titheradge, Norman Forbes and Grace Lane, many of whom worked in the companies of Herbert Beerbohm Tree and Sir Henry Irving.
