Connecting with business

Working with businesses to solve global challenges.

New technologies, discoveries and societal change need new methods of innovation and collaboration. We are working with business and community partners to help solve the pressing global challenges of society and contribute to the four grand challenges in the government's industrial strategy:

  • artificial intelligence and big data;
  • clean growth;
  • the future of mobility;
  • meeting the needs of an ageing society.

Co-creation

Together with our partners we are co-creating the new campus. We're exploring new exciting models of teaching, course delivery and collaboration.

In the process we are re-examining everything from the way we teach and assess, to room design and learning technologies.

We are co-developing and co-delivering courses with industry and agency partners.

Our courses will address current and future real-world needs and challenges, informed by the latest research, and provide enriched globalised learning experiences.

Co-location

We are inviting businesses to join us on the new campus. Our academics, researchers and students will mingle with SMEs, start-ups and multinational corporations in a purpose-built creative hub centered on innovation and collaboration.

The world-leading SetSquared enterprise hub, designed to support business creation, and the successful Engine Shed co-working spaces will also be expanded to form part of the campus.

The campus offers spaces for learning, research, collaboration, leisure and living, bringing life to a neglected part of the city centre and driving the further development of digital innovation in the city-region.

Turning research into real world benefits

The campus will provide a catalyst for UK economic growth, local jobs and international investment. We will work with industrial and community partners to create innovation that delivers real-world benefits.

The campus will be home to creative academics who embrace social responsibility as well as opportunity. Research and teaching will blend education, society, business and technology to drive innovation at scale with impact.

We currently work alongside IBM Research, Knowle West Media Centre, Novo Nordisk, Rolls-Royce, Samsung, TATA Steel, Watershed and Wessex Water.  To name but a few. If you'd like to partner with us, get in touch.

Open-access Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre
