Accessing & Setting Up Voicemail

Accessing voicemail

To access your voicemail:

  1. Dial the internal extension 11211 (to access from anywhere call 0117 33 11211).
  2. The mailbox is the same as the phone extension number. On initial use the PIN is the same as the phone extension number (you will have to change their PIN on initial use, the system will not allow 12345, 00000, 54321 etc.)
  3. Set a new PIN the first time you access your mailbox , the PIN must be 5 digits in length.

To access another voicemail account:

  1. Dial the main voicemail access number 11211 (to access from anywhere call 0117 33 11211).
  2. Then key # * on the handset and follow the audio prompts.

Voicemail web Interface

The voicemail also has a web interface where users can control certain features of their mailbox.

To access the web interface:

  1. Go to https://voicemail.bristol.ac.uk/Voicemail/
  2. Login with your Mailbox Number and Mailbox PIN.

Setting up voicemail

When you initially set up your voicemail you will need to set up a divert on your telephone to ensure that unanswered calls are forwarded to voicemail. For most staff, the following will be sufficient and will divert the call to voicemail if the phone is in use or it is not answered in five rings.

1. Pick up the handset, dial #0#11211 and replace the handset.

2. Pick up the handset, dial #0*11211 and replace the handset.

Staff have complete control over how their calls are forwarded to voicemail and are able (and expected) to manage the setting up and cancelling of forwarding themselves.
