Information for students

All students have been provisioned with Skype for Business Online. This can be used as an instant messenger and to make calls to fellow students and staff when required.

Please Note:  Skype for Business cannot be used for external calls outside the university.

Students may already have a personal version of Skype installed on their personal devices.

Please Note: Skype for Business Online is different to this and you will need to make sure that you install the Skype for Business version to give you access to the university global directory.

Information for staff

All staff in the University already have a standard version of Skype for Business installed on their laptops or desktops and many are using the current functions, which include making internal calls, sending instant messages and hosting meetings. This is also known as Skype for Business Online.

Please Note: You can use Skype for Business Online to keep in touch with staff and students across the university when working remotely.

The upgraded version of Skype for Business has been successfully rolled out to IT Services and the Careers Service and is being rolled out to the university in phases during 2020.
