About International Foundation Programme for Medicine and Dentistry
The International Foundation Programme (IFP) for Medicine and Dentistry is a one-year programme designed for overseas students (not UK or EU students) wishing to enter medical (MB ChB) or dental (BDS) degree programmes in the UK, including at the University of Bristol.
The programme will provide core chemistry and biomedical sciences learning, work experience in the healthcare environment, and opportunities for personal and professional development, including subject-specific written and spoken English language.
Teaching and assessment methods are designed to help students transition to university-level study and become familiar with the types of learning and assessments typically employed on medicine and dentistry undergraduates degrees in the UK.
The programme aims to help you develop the skills and aptitudes required to make a competitive application to undergraduate degree courses in medicine or dentistry in the UK.
Progression to degree courses
You are not guaranteed to progress directly to the MB ChB Medicine course or the BDS Dentistry course at Bristol. However, successful completion will guarantee you a place in the multiple mini interview process.
You will still need to apply through UCAS and you will still need to meet the standard entry criteria. We will support you during the application process.
If you miss the Medicine or Dentistry requirements, we may offer you a place on a biomedical sciences degree. You will also be free to apply for medical and dental degrees at other universities.
