About BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering

This programme provides partial accreditation for the qualification of Chartered Engineer. Its first two years are common with the MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and transfer on to the MEng is possible up to the end of the second year, subject to satisfactory end of year performance.

Years one and two offer a grounding in mathematics, computing, analogue and digital electronics, communications, electromagnetics, power electronics and control. In the third year you will choose from a range of option courses and individual project topics, allowing you to focus on anything from electrical power systems to electronic communications.

Access to HE Diploma offerPass Access to HE Diploma (Science or Science and Engineering) with 30 credits at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit. 15 credits at level 3 Mathematics are required with 12 of these at Distinction. The Mathematics units taken should include calculus, algebra and trigonometry. Where possible we recommend taking as many level 3 mathematics credits as possible. A-level Mathematics at grade A**
BTEC offer DDD (Engineering) plus A-level Mathematics at grade A or grade A in a mathematics test to be taken at the University of Bristol. Please read the admissions statement for information about the test.

GCSE profile requirementsProfile:
Grade C in Mathematics and English. In England, where numerical GCSE grades will start to replace letter GCSE grades, we will be aligning the two grading schemes as follows: 4 or 5 is C, 6 is B, 7 is A, and 8 or 9 is A*.
