About MEng Computer Science with Study Abroad

This course follows the structure of MEng Computer Science degree (G403), but gives you the opportunity to spend your third year at an English-speaking, partner university overseas.

During your year abroad, you will study computer science topics that are, as far as possible, parallel to the third year of our course at Bristol, before returning to the University of Bristol for your fourth year.

  • Programming and algorithms I and II
  • Introduction to computer architecture
  • Mathematical methods for Computer Scientists
  • Theory of Computation
  • Options: High-Tech Enterprise or Origins of Computer Science
  • Options: Open units from across the University

 

Second year

  • Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Symbols Patterns and Signals
  • Language Engineering
  • Concurrent Computing
  • Software Product Engineering
  • Options: HCI, career management skills, communications, complexity and number theory, university open units

Third year

Year abroad

The Mathematics units taken should include calculus, algebra and trigonometry. A-level Mathematics at grade A.*
BTEC offer D*DD  (IT Practitioners or Engineering) plus A-level Mathematics at grade A.*

GCSE profile requirementsProfile:
Grade C in Mathematics and English. In England, where numerical GCSE grades will start to replace letter GCSE grades, we will be aligning the two grading schemes as follows: 4 or 5 is C, 6 is B, 7 is A, and 8 or 9 is A*.
