About MEng Civil Engineering with Study Abroad

If you are creative and enjoy design, construction and management of the world we live in, then civil engineering is for you. This degree will equip you to find solutions to environmental problems and to design large and unique structures, such as buildings, bridges, dams and coastal defences.

MEng Civil Engineering with Study Abroad provides the chance to study in Australia, Canada, Colombia, USA, Hong Kong or Singapore. There is no direct entry on to the course, but you can transfer from the other courses if you reach a high academic standard in your first two years. Your course of study overseas will mirror the third-year curriculum at Bristol.

This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Subjects required at GCSE or equivalent:Grade C in Maths and English. In England, where numerical GCSE grades will start to replace letter GCSE grades, we will be aligning the two grading schemes as follows: 4 or 5 is C, 6 is B, 7 is A, and 8 or 9 is A*.
