About BSc Accounting and Finance with Professional Placement

This four-year course involves three years (1, 2 and 4) of study at the University of Bristol plus a one-year professional placement (year 3). Your placement will be in a financial environment, perhaps in an accounting firm or in the finance team of an organisation in another industry or the not-for-profit sector. This placement year will enhance your understanding of the areas of Accounting and Finance encountered in your studies, as well as helping you to take on responsibility within a team and to develop an understanding of how organisations operate. You will have the opportunity, within the placement, to complete the first stage of the professional accounting examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales - although you will be able to get some exemptions from those exams anyway, on the basis of what you learn during the "study" years of your degree.

Rather than applying to this degree directly, you would initially apply to one of our other Accounting degrees such as BSc Accounting and Finance. Once you have joined us, you can register your interest to add a professional placement. We will then allocate placement opportunities to the best students, on the basis of first-year examination results.
