Travel clinics
Travel clinics usually run on Wednesday afternoon throughout the year. During the summer term, these clinics are extended to include other dates and times. Please contact the Reception desk for further details, or to make an appointment.
Ideally we need to see you well in advance of your date of departure to ensure that you are fully protected by the time you leave the UK. For some destinations we would need to see you two months ahead though some travel immunisations and medicines can be sorted out with just a few weeks notice.
- Bring details of any previous immunisations.
- Check the Fit For Travel web site in advance of your appointment so you have some ideas about health issues you will need to consider for your chosen destination. This is an extremely informative and regularly updated site.
Many travel immunisations are not covered by the NHS but some are free.
The following charges apply:
- Diphtheria, free
- Tetanus, free
- Polio, free
- Hepatitis A, free
- Typhoid, free
- Hepatitis B is £25.00 per dose
- Rabies is £50.00 per dose
- Yellow Fever is £45.00
- Meningitis ACWY (Menveo) is £55.00
- Cholera is £40.00 per dose
- Tick Borne Encephalitis is £50.00 per dose
- Japanese Encephalitis is £75.00 per dose
- Private prescriptions are £14.00 each (eg for anti-malarials)
(The fee is for the private prescription and applies even if you later elect not to use it)
Please note 24 hours notice for cancellation is required. We will not offer a second appointment within the same term where you have failed to attend or to cancel an appointment in good time. You may have to make your own arrangements with one of the commercial travel clinics such as Nomad.
For a course of immunisations where charges apply, the full cost for the course must be paid prior to the first injection being given and no refunds will be made where courses are not completed.
