Social Work Bursaries

The administration of the social work bursary and postgraduate bursary transferred from the General Social Care Council (GSCC) to the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) in spring 2007, to provide bursaries for degree or diploma courses in social work.

Postgraduates

Postgraduate students in England can receive £3,362.50 and £862.50 for travel to work experience, per year. This award is means-tested on parents' or husband's or wife's income. Students may be eligible for a means-tested low-income allowance on top of the bursary.

The NHSBSA will also pay £3,466 (in 2010/11) towards the tuition fees.
