SITS Improvement Programme
The SITS Improvement Programme has been set up after a detailed review of the use of SITS to establish the main issues and gaps in the system. The Programme objective is to enable SITS to be used as the single student records’ system for the University (recognising that it will need to interface effectively with other corporate systems such as Blackboard), supporting single business processes and facilitating smooth and accurate student administration.
Achievements
So far the SITS Improvement Programme has achieved the following:
- A governance framework has been established to prioritise and monitor SITS developments and to encourage the consistent use of SITS across the University.
- Improved technical infrastructure for SITS and e:vision by installing new hardware
- Improved user communication and support their are now a suite of step by step guides , a regular newsletter and a new ticketing system for technical support.
- Successful pilot for managing PGR Stipends through SITS, allowing students to enter their banks details and receive BACS payments
- Automated Withdrawals, Transfers and Suspensions –we provided automation within e:vision for staff to process transfers, suspensions and withdrawals for taught students. This allows staff to enter the bare minimum of information and e:vision updates the relevant SITS records and automated e-mail confirmations to relevant School/Faculty offices.
The programme has also supported the changes to record marks to one decimal place and documented the processes and issues around recording marks
Projects
The programme is currently made up of a numbers projects which are aimed at improving particular areas within SITS, these are:
- Access Levels - Review access level model within SITS and implement standard access levels for each role post SPR.
- Automated Tuition Fee Processes (Word|90KB)) - To automate the generation of modular fees and automate pro-rata fees for students that start mid year.
- Progression (Word|110KB) - To Automate progression recommendations for UG students (governed by the common University rules for progression) and automate the SITS record changes.
